Step 3: Applicants who pass Step 1 & step 2 will be scheduled to appear before an Applicant Review Board. Applicants will be rated on their responses to pre-determined questions. Applicants who fail to score an acceptable rating will not proceed to the next step of the hiring process.

Physical Agility Test

Phase 2:

  • The total distance of the course is 500 yards. Applicants must complete the course in 3 minutes or less. The course will consist of the following tasks which must be completed within the time limit.

  • Applicants will drag a 150-pound dummy 15 feet.

  • Applicants will then proceed to a serpentine cone course.

  • Applicants will duck under a 4-foot obstacle.

  • Applicants will jump over a 2-foot hurdle.

  • Applicants will then negotiate a 4-foot wooden fence.

  • Applicants will then proceed to the Range Tower and go up and down the stair case.

  • Applicants will then run to the 50 yard line and dry fire an unloaded pistol into a safety clearing drum (6 times left handed and 6 times right handed).

  • Applicants must pass both Phase 1 and Phase 2 to proceed to the next step in the hiring process.

Phase 1:

  • Situps: Minimum of 25 within one minute

  • Pushups: Minimum of 20 within one minute

Each step of the hiring process must be successfully completed, and a recommendation made by the Chief of Police to be hired. Applicants who are hired will be scheduled for their first day of employment which will be the first day of the next police academy.
