BAPD HISTORY

From 1902-1954 Broken Arrow appointed Town Marshals.  TS Higgins was appointed as the first Broken Arrow law enforcement officer with a pay of $20 per month. His duties included enforcing the towns ordinances of course but also, he was the dog catcher, tax collector, and street commissioner. In 1954 Chief D Trapp became the first Police Chief for the city.

Currently Chief Brandon Berryhill marks the 8th Chief since the city was incorporated. Today Broken Arrow Police Department has 157 sworn officers and 61 civilian personnel. The Broken Arrow Police Department is an academy city, meaning we hold our own police academy. We are also responsible for our own communications center, jail facilities, animal control, and municipal court marshals.

Join Our Blue Family

Being a police officer in Broken Arrow is unique in that most of the officers who work here, also live here, they have kids that go to school here, and are involved in social events here.

Broken Arrow is a growing city, but our agency is still small enough that you know every officer you work with personally as well as their family.
