“Training Our Future Leaders”

The Field Training Officer (FTO) Unit is tasked with the “on-the-job” training of newly hired officers. Once a recruit officer graduates the basic academy, they continue their training on patrol under the instruction and guidance of an FTO.

Over the course of twelve weeks, the FTOs instruct the recruit officers in the daily tasks of a police officer. After the instructional phase, the recruit officers work patrol under two weeks of evaluation to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and effectively serve the citizens of Broken Arrow as a solo patrol officer.
